The Art of a Carpet Master
I met Mr. Abbas Javanmard, a very nice and funny carpet maker, in Zürich. He told me that he started to learn how to weave carpets from his mother in Iran when he was 14 years old. As a result, he was able to distinguish high-quality goods from inferior goods already at a very young age. After working for 10 years at Tehran bazaar, Mr. Abbas came to Switzerland in 1980. Iran is a country where carpets are an essential part of every home. In the past, these were mainly used for practical purposes, but now they are mainly decorative. It was and still is unthinkable in the Orient to have a living room or bedroom without a carpet! Oriental carpets give every room an unmistakable character! It is great that Mr. Abbas brought this great cultural heritage also to Switzerland.
Today, he runs his own business in Zurich, the "Teppichland" for over 30 years. As a specialist shop; for sale, repair, and cleaning, he has been providing high-quality unique items for decades and offers all services related to carpets.
